TITLE: ITACA - IL FUTURO DI UN MITO
DESCRIPTION:
In an era suspended between monumental memory and the digital horizon, the artwork acts as a temporal portal that projects the observer into the Venice of 2056. The artist's intention is not celebratory, but speculative: to question the resilience of Venetian identity in the face of technological acceleration and epochal change. The scene unfolds within an austere space, along whose walls the portraits of Venice's historical figures emerge as solemn yet blurred presences, destined for progressive oblivion--an image that underscores the past's inability to maintain an active grip on the present..
"The past guards the roots, the future awaits the audacity of those who know how to read its blank pages."
In an era suspended between monumental memory and the digital horizon, the artwork acts as a temporal portal that projects the observer into the future. Dominating the space is the polished marble floor, a foundational element of the architectural tradition of the Serenissima. The reflective surfaces cast reverberations reminiscent of the still, specular water of the lagoon, acting as a structural axis between the past and a still-formless future. It is upon this threshold that the visual focal point of the
installation is placed. At the center of the composition emerges the new Lion of Saint Mark.
While retaining traditional iconographic traits—its wings spread—the figure is reinterpreted through a
technological aesthetic that fuses leonine anatomy with precision mechanical elements, close to a
cybernetic imagery. The gaze of its luminous elements fixes directly upon the viewer, establishing a
frontal visual contact. In this dialogue, the noise of the surrounding world is muted, forcing the
spectator to question their own course and their own "Ithaca". The front paw, adorned with the warning «Pax tibi», rests firmly on a next-generation digital support. It is not a text inherited from the past, but a luminous artifact guarding the city's future history. The key detail lies within the completely blank pages: the artwork thus defines itself as the manifesto of an open destiny, in which the Lion is no longer merely the guardian of a set empire, but the active interpreter of Venice's tomorrow
